For this aspect of the portraiture topic, I was asked to create a painting in the style of impasto. I began by using a picture of another student in which I asked to change her position for the various shots. I then combined all three of my favourite images into a composition which I found to be more interesting rather than one upfront image. I decided I wanted to use my painting in one colour and create the tones with just the one colour. I decided to use Blue as I knew I would be able to create a wide range of tone and contrast with this colour as it can go really dark without adding another colour but also I could get it extremely light. I am happy with the outcome of this painting however since seeing it from around the room there are areas that I look at now that I believe I need to improve. there are slight changes that I feel need to be moved around also fix some features across some of the faces.
I then moved on to a new artist who isn't an impasto artist however I have manipulated her work into that style. Alex grant does a form of surrealism art which I feel like I wanted to add into my work to help me leave the style I have adapted onto myself. to me this was a key thing to-do so I began to-do a painting in her style of art and doing a similar surrealism affect as she does to her work. I am extremely happy with the outcome of this piece of work as it had a wide range of contrast as well as depth and dimension which I didn't think I would be capable of doing.

Portraiture - Chuck Close
For our portraiture we began by looking at a variation of artists who specialise in mostly tonal work. I began by looking at Chuck Close. to me I was more interested in his application of the paint with his fingers and brushes rather than the media itself. I wanted to recreate some of his work however using my own style. I began by taking some photos of other members of the class, by doing this I had a primary set of research to back up my painting. I started off by doing smaller versions of the paintings using my fingers. I used basic Acrylic paints in monochrome colours. I am really happy with the outcome of the first try out as it showed how I can change my style and manipulate someone else to make it look like my own.
I then went on to-do a larger version of this, however this time I decided to add a tint of red instead of white. this to me gave it a more tribal / native look especially with it being larger hand prints. I am very happy with the outcome of this piece as it shows my choice in scale as well as my ability to do things on a larger scale. I then went on to further increase the scale where I done a time-lapse in the green screen room. I wanted to further increase the scale to further show my ability to play around with scale and dimensions.
Overall I am happy with this artist research as well as the ability to try another style that I am not particularly comfortable doing however now I have really began to enjoy doing it.
